becoming a member
There is a very strong reciprocal arrangement between the Mountain Club of Kenya (MCK) and the Dive Club such that if you are a member of one, you are automatically a member of the other.
By joining these clubs you get to benefit from the experience and support of existing members, to use the resources of the clubs (including equipment), and, to expand your social network in Kenya. You do not need to “join” both clubs. You will have a differently designed membership card depending on your “primary” club but this will be accepted as evidence of membership for both clubs.
To be considered for membership of the MCK or the NSSAC, the prospective member (or at least one of the family) must either:
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in mountain activities such as technical climbing or hiking
- Be a qualified scuba diver (under any recognised body)
- Be embarking on a diving course offered by the club
All members can use the general facilities of the MCK and the NSSAC and can attend all meet nights (MCK, Dive Club).
The clubs attract those interested in outdoor activities with a desire to explore Kenya, develop their hobbies both in terms of technical ability and experiences and, most of all, to extend their social networks and benefit from the support of those with similar interests. And, you have an opportunity to really get involved and regardless of your level of experience or knowledge you will be encouraged to take an active role in assisting in or leading activities.
